AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims at providing students with a solid basic knowledge of the principles and logics underpinning the operations of businesses. In particular, the course intends to examine: the conditions for the origins and development of businesses; the necessary conditions to achieve and maintain the economic and financial stability of the business; the profitability and financial needs of a business; the programming and control system. TEACHING METHODS The course entails: face-to-face lectures aiming at providing an overview of financial and business concepts; tutorials to apply specific knowledge in practice. In the learning activities, students may be supported by digital apps that allow for self-assessment. It is available on Aulaweb. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Business Administration The main operations of business management: financing, investments, production, sales. Profit generation and financial and economic stability of the business. Financial needs, their determinants and coverage. Planning and control system. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY For attending and non-attending students: Selected chapters from the textbook: F. In the event that the health emergency continues, the exam will be oral and will take place through Teams (in a specially prepared Team where exam members or students who wish to attend will be entered manually by the teacher) ASSESSMENT METHODS The exam consists of three written questions relating to the topics covered in class and aims at verifying that the student is capable to effectively explain the nature of the business and its dynamics, and to apply theoretical concepts to solve problems regarding the preservation of the economic and financial stability of the businesses. In the event that the health emergency continues, the assessment of preparation will take place through an interview (via Teams). FURTHER INFORMATION The exam is a written assignment, identical for attending and non-attending students, to be supported simultaneously with the exams required for the other subjects (Administrative Law and Private Law) that are included in the Integrated Course. As an alternative to the contextual examination of the entire Integrated Course, students are offered the opportunity to take intermediate written/oral tests which, if positive, will contribute to determining the final grade of the entire Integrated Course. The three intermediate exams of the single courses will contribute to the determination of the final grade of the Integrated Course only if they are sustained in the exams of the same academic year. For example: from June 2021 until March 2022 for the academic year 2020/2021.
