The teaching unit Affidabilità e Sicurezza degli Impianti Navali has the aim to provide :
The student will possess the scientific and professional knowledge that make him/her employable in operations that relate to the design, the construction and the management of ship plants by using reliability & safety techniques.
The teaching unit will provide knowledge to support UN Agenda 2030

The teaching unit will empower soft skills by using team working techniques.
Typical teaching methods: classes, seminars by experts, online and offline Teams classes.
Team Working.
Lectures are usually taught in Italian, however, when foreign students are enrolled, the entire teaching unit is taught in English.
Lectures are recorded and recordings are made available to attending students.
Basics of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) methodologies and their application to marine systems.
The lectures will include main definitions of RAMS parameters, basic computation techniques, applications to components, applications to simple systems, application to the whole ship.
Markov chains for availability and reliability evaluation.
Risk Analysis techniques (FMEA, Fault Tree).
Rules and International Conventions concerning Ship Safety.
Application of the techniques for the design and operation of marine systems.
Learning from marine accidents.
Maintenance techniques and maintenance management of ship systems.

Written and oral exam. Problem solving (written). Theoretical aspects (oral). Discussion on student's homeworks and teamworking activities.
Exam will be available online whenever possible by rules and law.
The final evaluation will be based on : Homework/teamworking 10%. Exam (written and oral) 90%.
