AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The "Antennas" module provides knowledge and skills concerning antennas, with reference to both their working principles and their use in different applicative fields. The following main topics will be addressed. Fundamentals of electromagnetic radiation and antenna parameters. Linear antennas, aperture antennas, reflector antennas, printed antennas. Antenna Arrays. MIMO systems for multimedia communications. Smart and reconfigurable antennas. Wide band antennas for high–speed internet links. Antenna systems for industrial, civil and biomedical applications. The aim is to allow students to understand how to deal with antenna analysis and design.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam is oral.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The oral discussion may cover the entire course program and it will be aimed at assessing the skills acquired by the students on antennas, with reference to both their operating principles and their use in different fields. The evaluation of the exam will be based on the quality of the presentation, the reasoning ability and the level of knowledge acquired by the students.

Students with learning disorders will be allowed to use specific modalities and supports that will be determined on a case-by-case basis in agreement with the delegate of the Engineering courses in the Committee for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities, as better specified in the Further Information section.
