On one side, the objective is to present the main network technologies with a particular focus on Internet and wireless ones and their usage within monitoring and emergency management. The class contents are organized into four parts, addressing network basics, Internet technologies (TCP/IP), wireless technologies, and finally, their applications for monitoring and emergency management. On the other side, the basic concepts of technologies for modern electronic embedded systems, from sensor devices and sensing methods to wireless sensing networks for environmental monitoring, will be explained.
