AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Pathological Anatomy Course intends to provide students with the necessary information on the pathological bases and morphological aspects of the major human diseases with particular reference to those of the head and neck district. The morphological pictures of the main neoplastic and inflammatory diseases of numerous organs and systems and the contribution of pathological anatomy to their diagnosis will then be treated. The general knowledge relating to 1) the macro and microscopic morphological lesions associated with the main human diseases and 2) the clinical-pathological correlations will be provided. More detailed information will be provided on the pathogenesis and histo-cytopathological aspects of odonto-stomatological diseases. The student must be able to define the role of histological, cytological and molecular investigations in the diagnostic and prognostic definition of these diseases.

TEACHING METHODS

Classroom lessons with slide projections and interactive slide seminars relating to clinical cases.
