The course provides an overview of bioengineering and the possibilities of producing technologies to support health
At the end of the course the student will have a broad spectrum basic knowledge in the Bioengineering sector.
The student will have acquired the fundamental knowledge relating to the main theoretical and applicative aspects of Bioengineering. In particular, the main biomedical instruments, the analysis of biomedical signals and the foundations of modern biomedical imaging techniques will be illustrated, as well as their applications in the clinical setting and in research laboratories. At the end of the course the student will have developed the ability to critically and autonomously evaluate the limits and potential of the techniques discussed.
Frontal lessons
- The basic concepts of biomedical instrumentation and sensors for biomedical measurements
- State of the art related to prostheses and technologies for rehabilitation
- Basic concepts of health information systems
The material used for teaching will consist of PowerPoint presentations which will then be made available to students on aulaweb

Students will be evaluated on the basis of their active participation in the course and on the basis of a final oral exam
The active participation part aims to evaluate the ability to learn, deepen and explain Bioengineering topics.
The final exam aims to verify that the contents of the course have been assimilated, that the student knows how to use them critically and explain them adequately.
In addition to the knowledge of the course contents, the quality of the presentation of the contents, the correct use of the specialized vocabulary, the ability to think critically and to apply the acquired knowledge will be evaluated.
