This course aims to develop student's abilities to organize shapes according to the type of use, the technologies available, product costs as well as its industrial applications.
The teaching is composed of a theoretical section as well as a workshop section, with weekly assessments and reviews. The aim of this course is to provide students with the basic tools to design a 12-24 mt long motor pleasure boat, and to also design its other related elements (bridges, dashboards, deck plans, furnishings and interior decor). The first part of the course will focus on market research and on comparing and choosing the appropriate vessel type. During the second part of the course, students will begin to design the layout, the general plans and the sections; during this phase, 3D modeling may be used as support. During the third and last part of the course, students will complete the general plans, add details to the interior layout, and 3D model the hull, deck and superstructure. By the end of this course, students will be expected to: - possess a deep understanding of the fundamental concepts of nautical design; - be able to set up a vessel design project, while placing it into the relevant market share; - develop the general plans necessary to thoroughly describe the vessel.
