Spatial planning has developed a consistent apparatus of analysis aimed at the knowledge, evaluation and management of the widespread heritage it deals with – building heritage, urban fabric, historic villages and cities, historical landscapes. The aim of the course is to develop the ability to set up and conduct the analysis of a built environment, knowing how to recognize its patrimonial values in a design perspective.

Exercise conducted on the case study of the year.
The results of the exercise will be elaborated and organized to be presented during the exam for the passage to the second year of the course.
In the first months, a series of lectures will address fundamental issues of the management of widespread heritage – ways in which urban culture, particularly the Italian one, has dealt with the theme of the management of historic centers; landscape planning, with particular reference to those of testimonial value. In parallel, a research program will be set up related to the urban / landscape context of the historic building that constitutes a case study of the course year.The program will then be fully developed in the second half of the year.
They will be provided from time to time in relation to the object of the exercise carried out.

The exam is an integral part of the exam for the passage to the second year of the course.
Through the development and presentation of a research on a portion of the historical landscape, learners demonstrate the level of methodological rigor and competence acquired, as well as the ability to figure out and communicate the results achieved.
