The course of general pharmacology for Laurea triennale in tecnici della prevenzione nell'ambiente e nei luoghi di lavoro is aimed to provide students with basic knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics that will be important for the comprehension of pharmacological strategies of first aid (this subject will be treated by a specific in the following year)
To this purpose, the topics of the course will address the basic principles of pharmacokinetics (drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination) and pharmacodynamics (mechanisms of action, toxicity, indications anc contra-indications)
Teaching of geberal pharmacology wil be held as front lessons
Basic concepts of general pharmacology.
Pharmacokinetic
Absorption (administration routes, bioavailability)
Distribution
metabolism (enzymatic modification of drugs into the liver)
elimination (kidney, liver, enter-hepatic circle of drugs)
Pharmacodynamic.
Mechanism of action (targets, agonists, antagonists)
Side effects, tolerance, intolerance.
Indications and contra-indications of drugs.

The exam will be performed in form of a talk
Students will be asked to reckon the interaction between drugs and the human body and the physiological modifications that can be produced. The ability to discuss of the subjective and objective variable that can interfere with the therapeutic acticvity of drugs will be regarded as a plus in the evaluation on the exam
To pass the course of patologia generale e tossicologia, students must pass all the sections that compose it whithin the same semester.
