OVERVIEW

During the lectures will be presented the basic contents of anthropology from the debate between nature and culture to achieve human adaptation , the ecology and the occupation of the territories . Particular attention will be paid to anthropological knowledge in order to enhance the tourist aspects .

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

During the course will be presented the fundamental contents of anthropology: from the secular debate on nature and culture, will address the themes of variability, differentiation, adaptation, ecology and the many cultural strategies developed in time and in the Space from different human populations. Particular attention will be given to the basic knowledge of the demo-ethno-anthropological traditions of the territory in order to enhance its tourist aspects, from a non-reductionist point of view.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Aims

The course aims to study the phenomenon of tourism using the concepts and knowledge of anthropological sciences, their research methods and techniques. It aims to provide the appropriate tools to study the relationships between local communities and tourists from the point of view of sustainable tourism.

Expected learning outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding Students have acquired an adequate knowledge and effective ability to understand the fundamentals of anthropology relevant to the construction and communication of tourism services.

 Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding Students will be able to apply the knowledge they have acquired to understand and solve problems related to the design of tourism offerings that are appropriate to the target audience.

 Ability to exercise autonomous judgement  Students are able to apply the acquired knowledge at both the conceptual and operational levels with independent judgement and ability in the various contexts of application.

 Communication skills Students have acquired the technical language typical of the disciplines in order to communicate clearly and unambiguously with professional and non-professional interlocutors.

 Learning Competencies Students will have developed appropriate learning competencies that enable them to independently further explore the major topics of the discipline, especially in the work contexts in which they will be working.

TEACHING METHODS

The course consists of lectures complemented by discussions, meetings with experts, photographic and video material, and visits to heritage sites, in order to ensure strong student involvement and interaction with the lecturer.

Definition and fields of study of Anthropology

Human adaptation and human evolutionary ecology

The concept of culture, cultural diversity in human evolution

Anthropological and ethnographic tourism

Anthropology and ethnography itineraries (Museum of Ethnomedicine A. Scarpa of the University of Genoa, Nature Museums, Ecomuseums, Parks)

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

For attending students, consists of preparing a paleoanthropological and anthropological-naturalistic itinerary project of the student's choice. The project must be exhibited with the aid of slides in a time frame of ten minutes. Contributing to the determination of the grade will be the evaluation of the project in terms of originality and innovativeness, comprehensiveness of treatment, ability to synthesize and correct use of bibliographical references (maximum of 15 points) and the oral exposition in terms of clarity of presentation and ability to answer questions posed by the lecturer (maximum of 15 points).

For non-attending students, the final examination consists of a multiple-choice test comprising 16 questions, each of which has 4 answers, only one of which is correct. Two points will be awarded for each correct answer and zero points for incorrect or no answers. The test is to be completed in 20 minutes.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The examination aims at assessing the level of knowledge and understanding of the course content, as well as the student's ability to develop autonomous reflections and arguments on the issues under discussion.

Students with DSA certification ("specific learning disabilities"), disability or other special educational needs are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, in compliance with the teaching objectives, take account of individual learning arrangements and provide appropriate compensatory tools.
