Students are introduced to the theories with which to understand international trade patterns, examine trade policies, analyse the determinants of exchange rates and international financial crises, and address topical issues of international economic interdependence between states. The course also focuses on the history of the European Union and on the economic role of European institutions. TEACHING METHODS Frontal lessons and seminars SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course aims to provide the essentials for understanding the peculiarities that characterize the international economy. Firstly, are presented established theoretical models explaining the behavior of the variables and of the subjects of political economy. Then are proposed the implications, also of theoretical nature, wich can be derived from most recent processes of globalization. The examination focuses on the institutions of the European Union, and finally on the actions of political and economic importance which are implemented.
