The discipline seeks to answer specific questions in rehabilitative practice by developing knowledge on Evidence Based concepts, scientific research in rehabilitation, bibliographic research, databases, web sites. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The student should be able to critically evaluate published studies related to clinical rehabilitation, management of organizational processes and human resources, demonstrating that they possess the ability to apply to professional choices. The student should be able to conceive, design, adapt and implement clinical research projects. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The discipline EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH IN REHABILITATION AND TEST-BASED REHABILITATION METHODOLOGY MED / 48 aims to respond to the training need of the graduate about the methodology of clinical practice based on evidence of efficacy (EBCP) to be implemented both in their private clinical practice or as a tool to guide clinical organizational strategies in the health sector. With regard to the potential teaching role of the graduate in Rehabilitation Sciences, since it is a competence that crosses the various specialist clinical skills, EBCP competence constitutes a fundamental element to be integrated into the clinical reasoning taught, in the context of various specialistic fields in rehabilitation. The course aims to develop knowledge and skills in the learner to search for scientific information in a targeted way, to critically evaluate it and consciously apply it in the specific clinical context in which it operates, in line with the principles of clinical practice based on efficacy evidence. At the end of the course and after an appropriate period of study and practice, the student will be able to: - Getting to know the pyramid 5.0 - Find your way around the main databases of scientific literature - Learn to ask a clinical question - Know the main study designs and their application - Know the critical appraisal process - Know the reporting guidelines and methodologies - Knowing how to critically evaluate and apply the guidelines - Know the literature review methodologies (Fiction, Systematics and Scoping), their role and their limitations TEACHING METHODS Lectures and exercises with moments of interaction and discussion in the class group Students with SLD, disability or other special educational needs certification are strongly encouraged to contact the teachers at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods which, respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory instruments. SYLLABUS/CONTENT - The construction of the clinical question - Databases of scientific literature - Research methodologies of scientific information - Architecture of clinical research (classification of information, qualitative, quantitative and mixed research, descriptive and analytical observational studies, experimental studies) - Bias and critical appraisal tools of clinical trials - Literature reporting guidelines and methodologies - The synthesis of the literature: narrative reviews, scoping reviews and systematic reviews RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Students will be given the slides of the lessons to be used as a study guide. The exams of the integrated courses are held in Genova in a single moment and the Examination Commissions, chaired by the Coordinators of the integrated courses or by their delegates, must be composed in accordance with the provisions of Article 29 c.5 and c. 6 of the University Didactic Regulations. As per the Degree Course's Didactic Regulations, exams can only be taken in the periods dedicated to this and called exam sessions. The moments of verification usually cannot coincide with the periods in which the training activities take place. ASSESSMENT METHODS The interview will be aimed at ascertaining the achievement of the training objectives and an acquired basic competence in the application of the methodology of clinical practice based on evidence of efficacy, potentially also through discussion on a previously administered exercise. Details on how to prepare for the exam (oral or oral / written) and the degree of depth of each topic will be communicated during the lessons. Students with SLD or other regularly certified special educational needs will be able to agree on the written or oral modality with the teacher, by contacting the teachers at least 10 days before the exam.
