AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The primary objective is to provide future teachers with a knowledge base that allows them to deal with music in the classroom in a conscious and non-amateur way, as often happens. At the same time, stimulate to know the history of music by inserting it in the more general historical-cultural context. TEACHING METHODS The course includes lectures, watching music videos and direct knowledge of the instruments with the intervention in the classroom for various musicians of the Conservatory SYLLABUS/CONTENT The program includes two in-depth sectors that will be treated in parallel: the first of a theoretical-didactic nature of knowledge of musical grammar; the second to historical address. Part I - Music theory Notes on teaching music; sound and its qualities; the production, reflection and transmission of sound; the notation (history and current notation); the rhythm (solfeggi in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4); intervals, alterations, tones and semitones; the major scales; the tonalities; the classification of instruments and the orchestra; the human voice. Part II - Historical address The history program intends to favor an analysis by periods, with attention to the main authors and the main musical forms. 1. Sacred music: from Gregorian to Flemish polyphony. 2. The first profane experiences: the Trovatori and the Trovieri. 3. The sixteenth century: Reform and Counter-Reformation; the madrigal; Monteverdi 4. The Baroque: the opera, the sonata, the concert; 5. Haendel and Bach 6. Viennese Classicism: symphony, quartet; Haydn Mozart and Beethoven 7. Italy between the 1700s and 1800s: Paganini and Rossini 8. Romanticism: general lines and main authors 9. Music in France 10. Italian opera: general lines: Rossini, Verdi, Puccini and Mascagni 11. National schools 12. The topics will be divided into two modules. The student can take the exam in a single solution or one of the two modules. The two modules must still be passed within the same academic year (for example, if module A is passed in June, module B must be taken and passed by the following February, otherwise the grade of module A will also be canceled) ASSESSMENT METHODS discussion on the theoretical and historical topics addressed.
