The course provides the student with understanding of the dynamics of physiological fluid flows. The focus will be on the mechanical aspects of such flows.
L’insegnamento fornisce i fondamenti per la comprensione della dinamica dei moti biologici, con particolare riferimento al moto dei fluidi nel corpo umano. Verranno trattati i seguenti argomenti: moto del sangue nel sistema cardiovascolare (moto nel cuore, nelle arterie, nei capillari, nelle vene), fluidodinamica dell'uretere e dell'occhio.
Basic notions of mathematics and mechanics.
Combination of traditional lectures and classroom work on a project.
Introduction to biofluid dynamics. Blood rheology. Fluid mechanics of the hearth Flow in large arteries Flow in the microcirculation. Ocular fluid mechanics.

The students will be asked to work on a project that will be described in detail during class hours. In order to take the exam the students will have to work out the projects and write a short report for each of them. The exam will consist in an oral discussion of the projects and of the contents of the course.
