OVERVIEW

The topics range covered in the Applied Hygiene course address the principles of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine required for the prevention of disease and the promotion of health which are needed for the attainment of the highest degree of well-being. In addition, the course aims to orient students in their future tasks for achieving health goals and collaborating with public health professionals. New molecular biology techniques in the fields of genomics, proteomics and epigenomics offer the possibility of developing a new series of biomarkers to evaluate the genotoxic risk to which humans are continuously exposed. The last decades have given rise to the era of omics sciences and through the analysis of gene expression through high-throughput methods it will be possible to achieve a better understanding of the mechanisms of action of environmental xenobiotics.
