The teaching method does not include lectures or other predetermined activities: students have the freedom to independently choose the activities that are most suitable for developing the required skills (internships in companies, participation in challenges, or other educational activities, including online). The student will be responsible for presenting the completed experiences to the exam committee, demonstrating actual learning and the achievement of the educational objectives. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES This teaching unit aims to develop essential soft skills in students such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, professional ethics, and project management. These objectives can be achieved through internships in companies, participation in challenges, or other educational activities, including online, with the goal of enabling students to apply the knowledge acquired during their degree program by working on real projects and/or developing interdisciplinary skills. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES This teaching unit aims to provide students with a set of interdisciplinary skills and soft skills, essential for successfully facing the challenges of the professional world. In addition to internships in companies or participation in seminars, summer schools, professional courses, or courses on subjects complementary to the ICT sector, even online, the course objectives can also be achieved through participation in challenges and hackathons, which offer concrete opportunities to apply the skills acquired in competitive and innovative environments. In particular, the teaching aims to develop one or more of the following aspects: 1. Communication skills: to improve the ability to present complex solutions clearly and convincingly to diverse audiences; 2. Collaboration and teamwork: to enhance the ability to collaborate with others, improving teamwork skills, even remotely, and the use of online collaboration management tools; 3. Problem-solving and critical thinking: to increase the ability to develop innovative solutions and apply problem-solving methodologies acquired during the degree program, even in competitive scenarios such as hackathons and challenges; 4. Ethics and professional responsibility: to encourage students to consider the ethical and social impact of their solutions, addressing issues often related to global concerns such as sustainability, health, and well-being (through, for example, competitions or internships linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals); 5. Digital transformation and innovation: to gain hands-on experience with advanced technologies and innovative methods in business or professional environments, promoting the practical application of skills acquired in academia; 6. Project management: to learn rigorous management of time and resources and develop project management skills, even under tight deadlines, integrating planning and resource evaluation, including in competitive contexts; 7. Development of intercultural skills: to give students the opportunity to work with people from different cultures and nationalities, improving their adaptability and communication skills; 8. Acquisition of complementary ICT sector skills such as, for example: understanding business models, business strategies, human resource management, business process management, risk management, business planning, resource allocation, cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, marketing, promotion of products or services, economic, social, and environmental sustainability, regulations and standards, national and international regulations, contracts, and concepts related to economics and finance, etc. PREREQUISITES The student must have earned at least 90 CFU in other foundational or core courses of the degree program. TEACHING METHODS This teaching unit does not include predetermined lectures or activities: students have the freedom to independently choose the most suitable activities to develop the required skills (internships in companies, participation in hackathons and challenges, lectures and courses, including online). ASSESSMENT METHODS This teaching unit is considered passed if the evaluation of the activities carried out is positive and the number of hours dedicated to the activities is consistent with the number of credits to be awarded. Specifically, the credits are calculated as follows: • courses and seminars with lectures, including online courses, with a final assessment: 8 hours = 1 CFU; • internships, practical experiences, and courses or seminars without a final assessment: 25 hours = 1 CFU.
