Practical: clinical examination and basic diagnostic maneuvers (e.g. spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, saturimetry, venipuncture, skin prick test, interpretation of chest X ray and CT scan) TEACHING METHODS Lessons: 14 hrs Practical teaching: 2 wks Seminars: 8 hrs Case discussion: 10 hrs Attendance: mandatory Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. A minimum of 18/30 is required to be certified. The candidate should be able to describe the essentials of the main respiratory diseases and of the basic diagnostic procedures (SEE SECTION 2). Those latter aspects will be directly verified during the clinical practice training. These include: Knowledge: pathopysiological and clinical bases of the main respiratory diseases. Practical: clinical examination and basic diagnostic maneuvers (e.g. spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, saturimetry, venipuncture, skin prick test, interpretation of chest X ray and CT scan). It is required, for the final exam, that the student is able to discuss properly (also in term of medical language) his/her competence both in description and in practice.
