The course provides basic training in plant biology to enable the student to better understand the mechanisms and peculiarities of metabolic processes leading to the formation of plant compounds of pharmaceutical interest.
The Plant Biology module provides basic knowledge of plant organisms, preparatory to the study of plant drugs. In the Bioactive Constituents of Plant Drugs module, the main classes of secondary metabolites present in plant drugs of pharmaceutical interest are systematically described, with an outline of the main metabolic pathways in higher plants.
Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.
