OVERVIEW

The course aims to provide the student with the main notions on the morphology and functioning of the human organism and on the maintenance of homeostasis. This knowledge forms the basis for understanding subsequent courses in the biomedical and pharmaceutical area

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Human Anatomy course aims at studying all Systems and Organs that make up the human body, starting from a macroscopic description up to the microscopic structure. The objective is to provide information on functional anatomy which, together with the study of the other disciplines present in the course of study, will provide the knowledge necessary to understand the main human pathologies and the mechanism of action and toxicity of drugs.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide the student with the main notions on the morphology and functioning of the human body and on the maintenance of homeostasis. This knowledge forms the basis for understanding subsequent courses in the biomedical area. In the first part of the teaching (Human Anatomy) the structures of the human body will be described, from the composition of tissues and organs to the definition of apparatuses and systems. Particular emphasis will be given to the microscopic structures of tissues and organs.

At the end of the course the student will have acquired the necessary knowledge of human anatomy with particular reference to microscopic anatomy. The student will have to demonstrate that he is able to describe the structure of tissues and organs making the necessary connections between their structure and their function. Furthermore, the student will have to demonstrate the correct use of the appropriate terminology when describing anatomical structures. The expected results will form the basis for learning the subjects of the biomedical area that will be addressed in the course years following the first.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge of the cell, organelles and cell specializations. Basic knowledge of chemistry.

TEACHING METHODS

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. VERY IMPORTANT: any request for compensatory tools and adaptations in the exam MUST be done within 10 working days before the date of the exam according to the instructions that can be found at https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/comunicazioni
