OVERVIEW

The course describes the main aspects regarding the characteristics and requirements of rail and road infrastructure. The application of innovative technologies and sustainability aspects is analyzed with reference to new trends such as automation and digitalization. A particular focus is dedicated to the maintenance of rail and road infrastructure.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge regarding the design of rail and road infrastructure with a particular reference to the application of innovative technologies and sustainability aspects. New trends such as automation and digitalisation are addressed focusing on users’ perspective and acceptability.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course is aimed at providing to the students the main notions on the management of road infrastructure and railway and metro lines.

At the end of the course, the student will be able:

  • to demonstrate his/her knowledge on technical aspects and operational issues of road and rail infrastructure management;
  • to describe the main technological innovation and future development scenarios of the sector;
  • to understand  and to use in a proper way the technical terminology of the sector;
  • to solve operative problems knowing the available instruments/tools and the current rules and standards;
  • to interact with Companies that operate in the sector.
