CODE 84037 ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 2 SCIENZE AMBIENTALI E NATURALI 9916 (L-32) - GENOVA TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA PREREQUISITES Propedeuticità in ingresso Per sostenere l'esame di questo insegnamento è necessario aver sostenuto i seguenti esami: ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES 9916 (coorte 2023/2024) FUNDAMENTALS OF CHEMISTRY 72889 2023 MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: GEOLOGY LITOLOGY TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide the basic knowledge of the Earth system through the study of endogenous and exogenous processes which are mainly responsible for the geological structure of the territory, the petrogenetic, tectonic and stratigraphic processes that characterize the dynamics and evolution of continental and marine environments . It is divided into the following modules, with an integrated examination: Lithology Module, Geology Module. PREREQUISITES To deal efficiently with the contents of the course, basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry and geomorphology is required. As reported in the Manifesto of Studies, the teaching of Fundaments of Chemistry is preparatory to the Fundaments of Geology. TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD KEI OGATA ELISABETTA RAMPONE Ricevimento: Students will be received by the teachers upon appointment. MARCO SCAMBELLURI Ricevimento: Students will be received by the teacher upon appointment. LESSONS Class schedule FUNDAMENTALS OF GEOLOGY EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The exam is unique and integrated for the two modules. The exam consists of a written and an oral test. The first module (Lithology) is held in the first semester and the Geology module in the second semester. For students regularly attending classes (at least 75%), at the end of each module, during the period of interruption of teaching, a written paper will be held with open questions concerning the program carried out. For the Lithology module only, a report on the work done in the laboratory (analysis of the compositional and textural characteristics of rock samples) is expected to be carried out, which will be evaluated together with the written paper. The passing of the two partial written exams replaces the integrated written test, foreseen in the Manifesto. The oral exam consists in the discussion of the program of the two modules. The oral exam can also be taken in exam sessions following the written test. 2 sessions will be available in the winter session (January-February) and 3 sessions in the summer session (June, July, September). Please refer to the specific AulaWeb application of this course for any updates due to changes in the health and epidemiological situation. ASSESSMENT METHODS Details on how to prepare for the exam and the degree of detail required for each topic will be provided during the lessons. The written exam will verify the actual acquisition of knowledge of the topics addressed during the lectures. Furthermore, the student must be able to connect and integrate the knowledge learned during the laboratory activities with those provided during the lectures. The written paper is also intended to assess the student's ability to report synthetically and comprehensively on the geological processes faced and discussed during the lessons.
