The Pathological Anatomy Course intends to provide students with the necessary information (cognitive learning) on the pathological bases and morphological aspects of the major human diseases with particular reference to those of the head and neck district. The morphological pictures of the main neoplastic and inflammatory diseases of numerous organs and systems and the contribution of pathological anatomy to their diagnosis will then be treated.
Systematic training in the field of pathological anatomy: damage mechanisms and clinico-pathological correlations. Systematic training in the field of pathological anatomy of the oral cavity; notions of pathological anatomy relative to other organs.
To provide students with the general knowledge relating to the macro and microscopic morphological lesions associated with the major human diseases and the clinical-pathological correlations. Provide detailed knowledge of the pathogenesis and histo-cytopathological aspects of head and neck diseases. The student must also be able to define the role of histological, cytological and molecular investigations in the diagnostic and prognostic definition of these diseases.
Knowledge of normal human anatomy with particular focus on the cervico-facial district.
Knowledge of normal histological aspects with particular focus on the cervico-facial and digestive tract
Classroom lessons with slide projections and interactive slide seminars relating to clinical cases.

Oral exam: 3 topics of human pathology are presented to the candidate. The candidate is given 15 minutes to organize his/her presentation, also producing written notes. An oral presentation follows on at least 2 topics. At least 2 teachers participate in the exam sequentially.
The oral examination will verify the ability to describe the pathologies covered in the course and the contribution of histo-cytopathology to the diagnosis of diseases. The correct use of the specialized lexicon and the critical reasoning ability will also be considered.
