OVERVIEW

Oral Surgery is the branch of Surgery that deals with the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity

Acquisition of the rudiments of oral surgery

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student must:

  • know the anatomical limits in oral surgery
  • Know the principles of wound healing
  • Know the instruments used in oral surgery
  •  Know the principles of the diagnosis and therapy of soft and hard intraoral tissue lesions
  • Now the principles of the execution and the indications of tooth extraction
  • Have acquired a proper terminology in order to be able to identify the various interventions of oral surgeries in order to describe the procedures with a suitable language

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Details of the preparation for the exam and of the level of in-depth study will be given during the lessons.

The exam will mainly regard the topics dealt with during the lessons and will evaluate not only the degree of knowledge but also if the student is able to clearly present them using the proper terminology.
