OVERVIEW

The course of BLS is aimed to teach to recognize life-threatening (cardio-respiratory) emergencies and to activate techniques of basic life support with either adhults, or chindren, even using a defibrillator.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learn Basic Living Support (Basic Life Support) techniques to deal with an emergency using the external semiautomatic defibrillator (DAE), as provided by the ILCOR recommendations, pending the arrival of the Emergency Medical Service

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The outcomes of the course are preparing personnel confident with techniques of basic life support with or without defibrillator. Students will be able to recognize signs of cardio-respiratory arrest  and to activate the sequence of  procedures to support life  parameters (consciousness, ventilation, cardiac activity) in adhults and children, before the arrival of advanced  emergency care personnel.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam is composed of a brief Interview about BLS theory, followed by practical exercitation

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Students will be asked to recognize signs of cardio-pulmonary arrest and to initiate proper BLS procedures, according with age and conditions of patients.
