OVERVIEW

The course provides theoretical and practical bases for understanding cardiovascular perfusion techniques, and appears particularly important for graduates in cardiovascular pathophysiology and cardiovascular perfusion techniques.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge to understand and contextualize the indication for circulatory assist devices  and gain skills to apply this knowledge in practice.

TEACHING METHODS

Theoretical frontal lessons, clinical case discussions

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.

  • Acute and chronic heart failure: pathophysiology
  • Heart failure: diagnosis and therapy
  • Circulatory assist devices: pumps and implantation techniques
