CODE 101019 ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 CREDITS 1 cfu anno 1 TECNICHE DELLA PREVENZIONE NELL'AMBIENTE E NEI LUOGH 9298 (L/SNT4) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR BIO/14 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: GENERAL PATHOLOGY AND TOXICOLOGY TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB AIMS AND CONTENT AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The degree in techniques of prevention in the environment and workplaces is aimed to form personnel able to identify health issues due to professional, domestic and environmental acute and chronic exposure to toxic xenobiotics. To this goal the teaching of toxicology is aimed to provide to strudents the basic knowlwdge about -The routes of contact of toxic xenobiotics with living and in particular with humans -Absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of xenobiotics -Mechanisms of toxicity of xenobiotics on cells, tissues and organs -The pathologies that exposure to such toxic agents cause, favors or worsen. -Pest control agents, heavy metals, solvents, vapors and gas mechanisms of toxicity -Preventive and therapeutic strategies to mitigate the consequences of exposure to toxic agents. TEACHING METHODS The course of toxicology will be held as front lessons. Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.
