CODE 97209 ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 CREDITS 5 cfu anno 1 INGEGNERIA EDILE 11766 (LM-24) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/17 LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The increasingly urgent need to intervene in the built heritage to restore it and update it to the latest safety and energy efficiency regulations, has as its primary requirement that of making an accurate survey. Surveying means knowing the work as a whole and, at the same time, understanding its structural, dimensional and geometric characteristics. The survey process is therefore the first phase, necessary and indispensable, for the definition of a restoration project, or more generally, for recovery. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to teach the most recent technologies in the field of architectural survey today, both as regards the primary moment of the survey that is the phase of acquisition of the metric data, both as regards the representation and the study of objects of architectural, artistic and archaeological interest. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of this course is to provide the basic notions of three-dimensional survey and how the information collected can be used in a restoration and enhancement project. During the lectures, the techniques and methodologies existing today in the field of surveying small objects and complex and articulated structures will be presented. PREREQUISITES Students of the course are strongly advised to have the basic concepts of architectural drawing and relief. TEACHING METHODS The Digital Survey of Buildings course is an application course, therefore, the teaching typology is divided into theoretical lessons and practical design exercises. Halfway through the course, the exam topic will be presented and an external lesson will be organized to become familiar with the artifact to be detected and returned. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Introduction, general concepts of bitmap and vector graphics. Definition of the geometries that allow to create three-dimensional models: mesh and nurbs. Processing of bitmap images and creation of photoplanes. Definition of relevant no contact techniques and identification of their use and limits. Structure form Motion: creation of a 3D model starting from a photographic set. Management of point clouds in a CAD environment and creation of the main projections for the drafting of a project. Introduction to 3D modeling in an open source environment: Blender. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY M. Docci, D. Maestri, Manuale di rilevamento architettonico e urbano, Laterza, Roma, 2009 C.
