OVERVIEW

The course aims to provide foreign students with an Italian language competence at A2 level (elementary) according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR https://rm.coe.int/common-european-framework-of-reference-for-languages-learning-teaching/16809ea0d4).

The course allows the student to achieve a sufficient oral and written comprehension of the local language, as well as an introduction to Italian culture.

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes 60 hours (4 CFU) during the second semester.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Morphosyntactic elements

Alphabet, subject personal pronouns, pronunciation C and G, polite/formal form, affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences, gender and number of nouns and adjectives, formation of masculine and feminine nouns, regular and irregular nouns, qualifying adjectives, cardinal and ordinal numbers, definite articles, indefinite articles, concordance article + noun + qualifying adjective, present indicative of regular, irregular, and reflexive verbs, expressions with "essere" and "avere", demonstrative adjectives and pronouns, possessive adjectives, adverbs of frequency, construction of the verb "piacere", simple, articulate and improper prepositions, "passato prossimo", present and past tense of reflexive verbs, informal affirmative and negative imperative (you, we, you) of regular, irregular and reflexive verbs, direct and indirect pronouns, the particle "CI", "imperfetto" indicative, difference between "passato prossimo" and "imperfetto", present progressive, direct and indirect pronouns with the "passato prossimo", partitive articles, "ne" partitive, "stare per" + infinitive.

 

Lexicon

Nationality, greetings, objects in the classroom, people and environments in the school, physical appearance, human body, character, hours/time, pastimes, leisure activities, days of the week, months, seasons, holidays, vacations, vacation accommodations and places, hotel services, weather, dishes and dinning courses, meals, food and drink, table setting, professions, modes of transportation, home, places in the city, articles of clothing, colors, symptoms of physical discomfort, expressions with body parts, states of mind, formal and informal e-mails, decorative objects, furniture, sanitary items and household appliances, internet and social networks, grocery stores, containers and units of measurement, shopping lists, television genres and programs.

 

Communicative elements

Introducing yourself, asking for and saying name, nationality and age, asking and saying how you are, spelling in Italian, expressing agreement, disagreement, uncertainty and doubt, asking and saying where you work, expressing an opinion, asking for explanations, describing physical appearance, ordering at the bar, asking and telling the time, accepting or refusing an invitation, talking about leisure activities, asking and telling birthday, asking and telling what day it is, planning an outing, expressing good wishes, asking and telling what the weather is like, describing a person's character and physical appearance, asking and giving address/location, talking about the family, ordering at a restaurant, locating objects, talking about daily routines, describing the environment in which one lives, shopping in a store, talking about past events, talking about vacations, giving orders, talking about health, talking about movies, telling the plot of a movie, talking about means of transportation, planning an outing, booking a hotel room, describing habits in the past tense, talking about musica and moods, writing a formal e-mail, asking for and giving information at the bank and post office, talking about travel, talking about houses and apartments, talking about the furnishings of a home, describe a person's character and physical appearance, talking about social networks and the Internet, making a prediction, explaining the choice of a product and talking about a television program.

 

 

At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand written and oral texts in Italian and to write and speak in Italian according to the criteria described in the CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Languages https://rm.coe.int/common-european-framework-of-reference-for-languages-learning-teaching/16809ea0d4) for A2 level.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam will be conducted in written mode.

The test is based on the lexical, morphosyntactic, and communicative topics covered during the lessons.

The written test consists of various types of exercises to evaluate the students language skills, including:

  • Comprehension of a text
  • Grammar exercises
  • Vocabulary exercises
  • Listening
  • Written composition

 

The use of a dictionary is not allowed.
