The course of Oral Pathology aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. Key objectives include fostering the ability to accurately diagnose and manage oral diseases, understanding the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of these conditions, and developing skills in histopathological techniques and microscopic examination. Learning outcomes for the course are designed to ensure students can identify and describe various oral lesions, interpret laboratory and clinical data, and apply this knowledge in clinical practice. By the end of the course, students should be proficient in recognizing oral pathological conditions and implementing appropriate treatment plans, ultimately enhancing patient care and advancing their expertise in dental medicine.
The course includes a professional clinical internship carried out in the university dental clinic and in affiliated hospital departments. The students, followed by dedicated tutors, will intervene directly on the patient as first operators with progressively increasing degrees of autonomy. Attendance is mandatory.
