OVERVIEW

The integrated Course is divided in two modules: General Pathology and Microbiology General Pathology studies the intrinsic and extrinsic causes of human diseases, the body's defence response to damage agents and tumours. Microbiology examines the characteristics and differences between various microorganisms responsible for infectious diseases in humans and highlights the possible existing therapeutic options.

AIMS AND CONTENT

PREREQUISITES

In order to deal with the contents of the course, students should have a basic knowledge in the fields of cellular biology, genetics, human anatomy, histology, and physiology.

TEACHING METHODS

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of an oral test for both General Pathology and Microbiology. There will be 3 sessions for the winter session and 5 sessions for the summer/autumn session.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Both oral exam will allow to verify the achievement of the expected learning outcomes by evaluating the correct understanding of the contents of the various programs and the ability to develop the skills acquired in relation to the topics covered in the programs.

At the end of all the tests, the teachers formulate a final grade which derives from the weighted average of the partial grades and the overall assessment of the candidate.
