PREREQUISITES Basic literacy skills. TEACHING METHODS Interactive lessons in presence; oral exchanges in pairs and small groups. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Lexical Elements Greetings, nationalities, classroom objects, people and school environments, physical appearance, body parts, time, hobbies, leisure activities, days of the week, months, seasons, weather conditions, professions, family names, dishes, courses, meals, food, drinks, table settings, clothing, colors, means of transportation, shops, rooms in the house, places in the city, sports, holidays, and vacations. Communicative Elements Introducing oneself; asking for and stating one's name, nationality, and age; asking for and stating how one feels; spelling in Italian; expressing agreement, disagreement, uncertainty, and doubt; asking for and stating where one works; asking for and stating what one studies; expressing an opinion; asking for explanations; describing physical appearance; ordering at a café; asking for and telling the time; accepting or refusing an invitation; talking about leisure activities; describing the weather; asking for and stating one's birth date; asking for and stating what day it is; organizing a trip; giving well wishes; asking for and stating the weather conditions; describing a person’s character; asking for and giving an address; talking about family; ordering at a restaurant; locating objects in space; talking about daily habits; shopping in a store; describing one’s home; asking for information about a course; talking about health; interacting in a pharmacy; telling what one did over the weekend; talking about a vacation; talking about holidays.
