The class provides essential mathematical tools to address next university classes in tourisn sciences.
The main aim of the course is to provide students with the basic mathematical tools used in other topics studied in the Department of Economics and Business. Contents: - sets, sets of numbers, the concept of function.
Topics are addressed starting from the basics for students from any secondary school . The approach is aimed at encouraging learning.
Basic knowledge of mathematics at secondary school level.
The teaching takes place with frontal lessons and intends to use innovative learning systems. In particular, the MYLAB platform is used, which allows the student to carry out standard exercises that recur each time with different data and also with error reporting and the related explanation. The platform also allows the teacher to know the percentage of correct answers given by each student, thus monitoring general learning during the course of the programme.
The class material is available on aulaweb.
Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Prof.ssa Elena Lagomarsino elena.lagomarsino@unige.it, the Department’s disability liaison.
Sets, sets of numbers, the concept of function.
Real functions of a real variable: limits, continuity, derivatives and differentials, the study of functions.
Real functions of more variables: introduction. - Indefinite integral, definite integral, improper integrals.
Linear algebra: vectors, matrices, linear systems.
Capitalizaion, amortization, capital formation.
Textbooks will be eventually suggested at the beginning of the lessons.
Ricevimento: MARINA RAVERA: Student reception (remotely via Teams or in person) must be arranged with the instructor by email appointment
2st sem.
The exam will take place in oral form with applicative and theretical questions.
The preparation of the student is assessed by a final examination.
Good basic preparation and attendance are recommended to be able to deal with the subject in a laboratory manner.
