It will also provide notions on numerical analysis to find numerical solutions of the mathematical problems. One of the aims of the course is to teach the students how to work independently on a new project and how to find and study the existing scientific literature. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The module aims to provide students with knowledge of the continuum approach to study the mechanical behaviour of biological tissues. The general aims and learning outcomes of the two modules of the course are the same, so please also refer to the description in the form common to both modules. TEACHING METHODS Each project will be presented by an instructor and the necessary mechanical knowledge will be provided during a suitable number of frontal lectures. During most of the class hours, however, students will work in small groups on the projects. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Every year a project will be proposed relative to this module and the students will work on it. The project will typically change every year. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY For each of the proposed projects the instructors will provide material to study (typically scientific articles or text books).
