AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of this module is to provide students with the skills necessary to design multimedia content. Students will gain a solid understanding of both the creative and technical aspects involved in content production, with particular emphasis on the pre-production stages. The module will also address the current state of media hybridization and the progressive blurring of boundaries between different media formats, focusing especially on the domain of video games and, more broadly, interactive media effectively employed for communication and learning purposes. Finally, the course will explore the use of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies in multimedia content production contexts, highlighting their potential and impact on creative and technical processes.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The module focuses on teaching the skills needed to design multimedia content, also with the support of Generative AI. The current condition of media hybridization and how the boundaries between them are thinning will be addressed. Particular reference will be made to the world of video games and in general to interactive media used effectively for both communicating and learning.

Learning outcame expected:

- To gain awareness of transmediality using the video game as a vector.

- Basic skills in game design, audio and video making, screenplay, game writing and production.

- How to manage ad use Generative AI Tools to support the creative process.

- How to take into account available technologies, target audience and effectiveness of communication, both for the end user and a possible publisher.

TEACHING METHODS

Lecture and laboratory activities where students can put into practice and understand what has been discussed. The reference methodologies adopted are Learning by Doing and Active Learning.
