The Course aims to provide knowledge in the field of educational dimension, based on educational values of human geography. Will be illustred iconographic and geographic materials and main themes for the knowledge of our society. Will be illustred bibliographical, statistical, web, cartographical and didactic sources for the research in actual geography.
The course of Human Geography aims to provide knowledge of human activities and expressions of culture in relation to anthropological reflection on geographical factors, in a multicultural perspective. The proposed educational activities and individual study will allow students to acquire adequate knowledge regarding the main tools of human geography. These skills will allow students to develop critical skills in the main conceptual categories of geography.
Attendance and active participation in the proposed training activities and individual study will enable the student to acquire adequate knowledge regarding the main tools of human geography. The teaching consists of frontal lectures for a total of 36 hours with the use of slides and eventually of videos, with analysis and discussion of case studies. Moments of debate on specific topics will also be planned during the course.
The main models of representation of geographic phenomena will be presented, as well as a basis for the representations of space, from the origins to the contemporary.
To this end, the main concepts of human geography will be addressed for the construction of an adequate geographical lexicon. The tools for understanding and critically reading contemporary complex geographical phenomena will also be provided.
In particular, the course will focus on the understanding of the following concepts: map, scale, environment, nature, territory, landscape, region, gender, development. These concepts will be explored in their complexity and used to understand global phenomena.
Bases of the geography of minors and the geography of risk will be provided to support future actions on these fields.
The slides used during the lessons and other teaching materials will be available on aul@web and should be used to prepare for the exam.

The exam will be written and will have both closed (quiz) and open questions.
Non-attending students who wish to bring a text of their choice in place of the slides must inform the professor of their choice when registering for the exam or at least 1 week before the scheduled date of the test.
Details on how to prepare for the exam and on the degree of depth of each topic will be given during the lessons. The verification has the task of verifying that the student has learned to use the main conceptual categories of human geography, as well as acquired the specific scientific vocabulary. There may be a written test at the end of the module.
