CODE 61218 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 1 DESIGN NAVALE E NAUTICO 11905 (LM-12 R) - LA SPEZIA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/17 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION LA SPEZIA SEMESTER 1° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: DESIGN 1 STUDIO WORKSHOP 1 OVERVIEW The course is aimed at students with different educational backgrounds in the three-year period; Some basic principles of representation in the naval field will therefore be dealt with in a specific way. The course is divided into three phases: - the analysis of visual references, intended as a source of design inspiration, - the development of architectural executives related to the chosen proposal and the evaluation of constraints and potentialities deriving from them - the critical analysis of the final result as a moment of comparison between the initial idea and the actual sustainability of the project on a technical level. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to equip students with specialised skills in developing graphic designs essential for communicating and executing projects within the naval sector. In this context, particular emphasis is placed on the design of interior spaces intended primarily for accommodating passengers and crew. The course will critically examine the relationship between analogue design—as a tool for conceptual expression—and its digital development, ensuring effective integration within the broader production cycle. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to make the student aware of how representation constitutes a real design method, allowing the development of synthesis and critical analysis of the ideational process. PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of representation methods is required. TEACHING METHODS Theoretical lectures and collective reviews will be carried out to share the processes and stages of development of personal works. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course starts from a reflection on what is the state of the art in the field of naval design with reference to the potential introduced by the tools and methods of representation. Some case studies are then analyzed in which representation can be interpreted as a method through which to define a design process and an ideation process. From the initial graphic summaries, we will then move on to the analysis of expressions of the executive project in order to conclude a cyclical path that allows us to consider what discrepancies may arise between idea and realization in the light of technical aspects. The course in the second part therefore sees the development, independently or in groups, of a design theme according to what has been learned in the previous phase. ASSESSMENT METHODS The ability to structure a methodological and expressive path consistent with the declared cultural premises will be evaluated.
