OVERVIEW

The course provides students with the basic knowledge of design, the fundamentals of layout and internal distribution of sailing pleasure boats. The course will develop the boat project by studying and solving the subsets that compose it.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The module aims to introduce the design of the nautical product through the tools of three-dimensional Cad design. From the sketch drawing to the 3D model.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching consists of a theoretical part and a laboratory part with weekly checks and revisions.
The educational objective of the course is to provide the student with the basic tools to tackle the design of a pleasure boat between 10 and 15 meters in length, sailing, and to develop the design of the sub-assemblies that compose it, specifically: cockpit, deck plans, maneuvers, sail rig.
The expected results of the module are those of an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of nautical design in the parts of rigging and deck equipment and having developed the ability to set up the project by inserting it in the portion of the market of its competence.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge of descriptive geometry, technical drawing and boat technology.

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching is carried out through lectures by the teacher, guided exercises and project laboratory in the classroom.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The main topics covered can be summarized in two macro themes: the general principles of design and the specifics of the nautical project.
Part of the project:
History of pleasure boats;
Deck Plan;
ORGANIC internal/external ratio;
Structural elements of the boat;
Safety and hygiene;
Form and current and future trends

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral Exam: The exam consists of the delivery and presentation of all the papers produced during the course and in the critical discussion of the same also in relation to the theoretical contents taught during the semester.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Oral discussion with presentation of the works produced during the course. The discussion of the materials presented by the students will be evaluated based on their completeness, ability to interpret, deepen and graphically restitute the assigned topic and aims to verify the knowledge and understanding of the theoretical notions provided and the ability to critically rework the concepts acquired and to orient them to practical design applications.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Students with disabilities or DSA can request compensatory/dispensatory measures for the exam.
