The course aims to provide the fundamentals in the use of Information Technology and English for Sports Science.
The course enable students to reach an effective level of knowledge and understanding of English for Sports Science as well as developing their IT skills to meet the challenges of a modern professional world.
English Language
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
IT Skills
Students must have a B1 level of English according to the parameters of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Students must have basic mathematical skills and reasoning and analysis abilities, typically covered in undergraduate maths courses.
As indicated in the Regulations lesson attendance is compulsory (at least 70% of face-to-face activities).
English Language (24 hours of face-to-face lessons) The lessons will be given entirely in English with the aim of developing reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. They envisage practical exercises, communicative activities and problem-solving through collaborative learning: pairwork, groupwork. Lessons are enhanced by the use of multimedia and online resources. The teaching material is available on Microsoft Teams and/or aulaweb. The students are advised to bring a laptop or tablet to the lessons.
IT Skills (16 hours of face-to-face activities)
Lessons will be face-to-face, guided workshops will be held face-to-face and video recorded. The teaching material will be available on the Aulaweb module, and will include links to videos and online resources. Students are required to have a computer, and will receive assistance installing LibreOffice with English user interface.

The exam consists of two independent tests: an oral test in English and a laboratory test with LibreOffice. A final pass is obtained by passing both tests.
For students with disabilities or with DSA, the exam procedures comply with the University regulations for carrying out exams (https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa).
The oral exam will evaluate the ability to undertsand familiar topics related to sport, express the acquired knowledge in a clear and concise manner, describe their sport and relate their experience and ambitions using the specialized lexis correctly.
The test assesses the ability to adequately use the Calc spreadsheet.
In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the Department contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and lecturers at the beginning of the course to agree on the teaching and exam methods. In compliance with the teaching objectives, these will take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.
