OVERVIEW

Integrated teaching offers a double path in the field of periodization that characterizes the development of figurative culture in the modern age. On the one hand, with the module History of modern art in European countries, we will analyze artists or themes in the breadth of the European cultural circuit and in relation to the Italian centers, on the other hand, with the Iconography and Iconology module, we will investigate the structure iconological analysis and the method of application through specific case studies, of a classical or religious matrix.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching offers students an in-depth analysis of the figurative culture of the modern age in relation to historical contexts, the role of commissions and prominent artistic personalities, the iconographic and iconological significance of the works in the European circuit.

Basic historical and historical artistic knowledge.

Oral examination. Please refer to the Exam procedures described in the same item in the Teaching Sheets of the two modules.

ATTENTION: The registration of the career grade is unique and will take place only when both modules of L-ART / 02 have been taken.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

For the History of Modern Art in European Countries module: the evaluation of the candidate's preparation will be considered sufficient on the basis of the skills acquired - through the lessons and / or the readings proposed - to correctly place the artistic production considered in time and in the cultural context . Higher and more excellent evaluations will be attributed by verifying the student's ability to grasp critical aspects and cultural links in the topics addressed in the course of study and discussed in the recommended texts.

For the Iconography and Icononology module: the interview is aimed at verifying both the learning of general concepts and specific contents, related to the in-depth topics chosen by the student, and the acquisition of the methodological tools necessary to apply the knowledge acquired to the iconological analysis of images.

For both modules the exam will verify: knowledge and understanding of the texts included in the bibliography; critical capacity and personal reflection; the clarity of the presentation and adequate knowledge of the specific terminology.
