The course, divided into two modules, focuses on an in-depth exploration of two literary civilizations of the Middle Ages, characterized by both continuity and innovation in relation to the Greek and Latin literatures of Antiquity.

Module Byzantine Literature: overview of some crucial Byzantine literary texts, from reading a manuscript to understanding some layers of the text, towards a philological/literary commentary.

Module: Medieval and Humanistic Latin Literature and Philology

This module offers an in-depth study of medieval and humanistic Latin literature through an examination of the historical context, literary genres, key authors, and major works, 6th to 15th century.
