In particular, the course will provide the basic knowledge about ships and their life cycle, ship routes, port’s characteristics and processes. In the end, the course will introduce the main models and solutions for some freight terminal operations: berth’s allocation, route planning, freight loading/unloading, and yard management. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES After the course, the student shall know and shall be able to address the problems related to the various aspects of freight and people maritime transport. PREREQUISITES Transportation System Engineering TEACHING METHODS The course lessons are held in a classroom. During the lessons, the professor shows and explains slides covering the various topics of the course and, in some cases, makes use of the (traditional or virtual) blackboard to explain in detail some specific contents. The slides are made available to students on Aulaweb. Seminars by maritime transport experts could be included in the course.
