CODE 104795 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 2 SAFETY ENGINEERING FOR TRANSPORT, LOGISTICS AND PRODUCTION 10377 (LM-26) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/05 LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 1° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW Transport Systems Design is the engineering discipline that provides the methodologies for modelling and designing transport systems with a holistic approach and by means of appropriate mathematical and modelling tools. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The goal of the course is providing the principles of transport planning in relation to different geographic and temporal scales, the functional design of transport infrastructures and services, as well as the tools for evaluating the economic convenience and sustainability. In doing so, some relevant cases will be considered with the aim of introducing modern design techniques: OD matrix estimation and calibration, network design, public transport and car-sharing design, traffic light design. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Thanks to the teaching unit, the student shall know and shall be able to apply, through dedicated optimization and simulations software tools, basic and advanced notions about: transport systems simulation ransport systems design Integrated representation of transportation systems and land use PREREQUISITES Students should be familiar with probability, transport supply and demand models, assignment models, and flow theory. TEACHING METHODS Class lectures (50% of the lessons) and software laboratory exercises (50% of the lessons).
