Embryology of the heart and cardiovascular system will begin the course and it will focus on both paraphysiologic and age-related modifications. All pathologic aspects of cardiacpathology will be treated focusing on cardiomyopathies, ischemic and myocardial diseases and valvular pathology. Infectious heart disease and its differentials will be part of the course as well as casues of heart related sudden death, from an autoptic point of view
The lessons are carried out with the aid of slides and films (the latter for the part concerning the autopsy and the macroscopic examination of the organs). Discussion and active participation of students during lessons is encouraged with examples taken from clinical practice which they may have had access during internship activities. The teaching material used during lessons is provided to students via Aulaweb Unige to complement the recommended textbooks
Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.
