OVERVIEW

The integrated teaching "Motor and Sports Activities at Different Ages of Life" offers an in-depth overview of the use of physical activity as a tool for prevention, compensation, education, and inclusion throughout life. Students will acquire knowledge related to the specific motor, sport and postural needs of development, adulthood, and old age, with particular attention to adults with disabilities or specific medical conditions. The training program, which combines theoretical lectures and practical exercises, provides in-depth knowledge of the organization of adapted physical activities, methodological approaches, and the design of adapted physical activity programs aimed at promoting health and well-being throughout life.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course aims to provide knowledge on the specific physical and motor characteristics of the various stages of life. Upon completion, students will be able to:

• observe, analyze, and plan motor and sports interventions consistent with the needs of the developing student;

• understand the specific problems of adulthood, especially the elderly, analyzed in relation to age, the anatomical regions involved, and the main therapies available, correlating motor and/or sports programs to these situations.

• understand, analyze, and manage adapted physical activity programs for the prevention of the main neurodegenerative diseases. Understand and evaluate the main kinesiological interventions for paramorphisms and dysmorphisms.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Objectives of integrated teaching: knowing, knowing how to do, knowing how to be for the conduct and management of physical and sporting activities aimed at all ages of life and special users.

Development of knowledge, skills and operational skills in relation to adapted motor activities, aimed at able-bodied and disabled subjects, carried out with educational, recreational, socialization, prevention, maintenance and compensation purposes to promote the best quality of life , integration/inclusion and well-being of the individual throughout the life span.

Organization and management of physical activities for adults and the elderly. Possess basic knowledge relating to the methodological, didactic-organizational and relational aspects that characterize the areas of education and motor prevention in the changing and various phases of developmental age, in particular in the following operational areas: training, free time (recreational), quote for well-being.

PREREQUISITES

To effectively approach and understand the topics covered in the course, an adequate basic knowledge of functional anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and methods and teaching of physical activity and sports is required. General skills in the field of physical education are also required, with particular reference to the principles of training, functional assessment, and motor adaptation, as well as familiarity with the fundamental concepts of physical education, prevention, and health promotion.

TEACHING METHODS

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, should contact the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific teaching methods so that the learning aims and outcomes may be met.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exams will include written tests. Details regarding the classrooms where the exams will be held and any minor deviations from the established procedures will be specified on the aulaweb section of the unige portal. The exam will include a written test in the form of multiple-choice quizzes and open-ended questions on the course topics. The final score will be the average of the grades obtained in the three modules. A passing grade in all three modules is required to pass the exam. For specifics on each module, please refer to the individual exam sheets.

The university's guidelines for assessing students with learning disabilities (DSA) or other educational needs will be followed during the exam (e.g., additional time for written exams, use of concept maps, which must be reviewed for approval by the instructors at least one week before the exam date).

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The written exam for the integrated course is structured to consistently and comprehensively assess the skills acquired in the three modules through the evaluation of written assignments.
