The aim of this teaching unit is to provide students with an overview of the analytical and numerical techniques needed to deal with the physical-mathematical problems associated with the motion of a ship. In particular, the theoretical part focuses on the mechanics of rigid bodies subjected to stresses similar to those typical of navigation, while the numerical part introduces the design of numerical algorithms capable of simulating more realistic situations.
