The systematic zoology of edible animals will highlight the main zoological groups in which little-known edible species are represented in view of a sustainable and conscious diet.
The course aims to provide the rudiments of systematic zoology with particular reference to groups containing edible species; describe, in a historical sense, the evolution of human nutrition in relation to the availability of animal species; deepen the description, lifestyles and methods of collection of species used in Ligurian gastronomy; identify the species subject to different protection measures with a view to a diet that is simultaneously sustainable and enhances the typical aspects and traditions of the territory.
Attendance and participation in the planned training activities will allow the student to acquire knowledge on the biodiversity of edible species from a general point of view and the systematics of the main groups of interest.
