By the end of the course, students should have acquired knowledge of:
The history and fields of application of techniques for analyzing motor gestures;
The difference between qualitative and quantitative approaches for a comprehensive understanding in studying, describing, and analyzing human movement;
Methodologies for planning assessments: what to analyze and when to do it;
The main technological solutions for human movement analysis;
The main techniques for statistical data analysis and their graphical representation.
The course consists of lectures, totaling 16 hours. Attendance is mandatory, as stated in the Academic Regulations.
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge necessary to select the most appropriate measurement tool based on the type of movement to be assessed or its associated neural correlates, with an understanding of each tool’s technical features, advantages, and limitations. In detail, the course will explain the operating principles of the following instruments:
Optoelectronic systems for kinematic movement analysis
Innovative tools for the quantitative assessment of movement kinematics
Inertial systems
Electromyography
Tools for assessing strength and power
Instruments for studying brain activity

Oral on the examination program. The interview will last approximately 20 minutes.
The exam will cover the topics discussed during the lectures and is intended to assess not only the achievement of an adequate level of basic knowledge, but also the acquisition of the ability to critically analyze the questions presented.
It is recommended, at the beginning of the course, to subscribe to Aulaweb so as to receive information and be kept up-to-date on teaching details.
In case of certification of specific learning disorders (DSA), disabilities or other special educational needs, it is necessary to contact the Referring Lecturer of the DISABILITY and DSA Commission for DIMES, Prof. N.
