By the end of the teaching module, students should have acquired:
Knowledge of the scientific research process applied to motor disciplines;
The ability to independently use the acquired knowledge to develop basic research designs consistent with the educational objectives of the Master’s Degree program;
The ability to identify and interpret the quality of the methodological process of research, and to develop adequate autonomy in critical judgment regarding the evaluation of the validity and reliability of existing research in the literature;
The skills to master and appropriately use the correct technical-scientific terminology across different research areas;
The competencies necessary to progressively deepen, in an increasingly autonomous manner, the principles and methodological techniques of the field, developing project proposals consistent with one’s own inclinations and individual interests.
The course consists of lectures, totaling 16 hours. Attendance is mandatory, as stated in the Academic Regulations.
The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge to evaluate and design a research study within the various disciplines related to the motor and sports sciences, with particular reference to adapted physical activity. Specifically, it will cover:
The scientific method applied to research in motor sciences
The research cycle
Research methodologies
Types of scientific publications
Introduction to statistical data analysis

Evaluation of the understanding, critical analysis, and oral and/or written presentation of a selected scientific work.
Assessment of the ability to design a research project through the development and presentation of a structured, coherent, and methodologically sound project.
It is recommended, at the beginning of the course, to subscribe to Aulaweb so as to receive information and be kept up-to-date on teaching details.
In case of certification of specific learning disorders (DSA), disabilities or other special educational needs, it is necessary to contact the Referring Lecturer of the DISABILITY and DSA Commission for DIMES, Prof. N. Girtler (nicolagirtler@unige.it) who, after assessing the individual case, will send the teachers the necessary indications both for the development of the lessons and for the way of conducting the examination.
