OVERVIEW

Soft skills are behavioral and interpersonal skills enabling individuals to interact effectively with others, to behave appropriately and in a manner suited to the context in both academic and professional settings, to organize and plan their goals, promoting personal and professional growth and managing critical issues. As such, soft skills are transferable across many areas of life and are increasingly sought after in the workplace and within organizations.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide knowledge of the transversal skills required in complex organizational contexts that characterize the workplace, including team-working planning, effective communication, communication styles, assertiveness, corporate and group dynamics, leadership, and conflict management.

PREREQUISITES

The course involves no specific prerequisites.

TEACHING METHODS

The course consists in lectures and practical workshops covering the relevant topics.

Attendance at lectures and workshops is compulsory, as per teaching regulations.

The practical workshops include tests, group work, team coaching, keeping a work diary to record observations and activities, peer evaluation, and discussions of practical cases.

Students with a disability certificate, SLD, or special educational needs must contact both the lecturer and the disability representative of the Department DIME at the start of the course to discuss teaching and examination methods that, while complying with the teaching objectives, will also take into account individual learning styles and allow for the use of any compensatory tools.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

No final exam. Attendance and participation in exercises are mandatory, with active participation assessed by the lecturer. The attendance requirement is considered fulfilled with a percentage of attendance exceeding 75% of the total hours. In the event of absences exceeding 25% of the total, the lecturer will also evaluate the student's progress through the documentation prepared on the completed activities. Erasmus students: similar procedures, with language support.
