CODE 118189 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 5 cfu anno 1 SAFE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS ENGINEERING 11920 (LM-26 R) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/20 LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester OVERVIEW Knowledge and application of the various planning tools (plans, programs, policies) of their interaction and application in an international context, with reference to the main institutional procedures AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide a wide and updated knowledge and, even if synthetic, of the types of plans and their relationship with other planning tools in light of current choices and of guidelines of the (international and national) legislation and of trends. Particular attention will be given to the topic of sustainable mobility systems, from an environmental, social and economic point of view in order to develop knowledge for correct governance. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims at providing an up-to-date knowledge on the main policies, laws and tools for urban and territorial planning. It examines in depth the most important spatial issues at the local and international level. It analyses the main elements of governance as planning cultures, sustainability, participation and citizenship and sectors of intervention: natural/anthropic risk prevention, smart and sustainable mobility, energy planning. It is also noted that the expected skills also include: managing social interactions with a collaborative attitude, constructive communication, in group settings and articulation; autonomous decision-making, collaborative attitude, management of human and material resources, coordination and negotiation, as well as required deadlines. PREREQUISITES There are no prerequisites. TEACHING METHODS The 45-hour teaching consists of face-to-face lectures, which are followed by guided thematic insights/workshops, referred to individuals or small groups of learners, specifically devoted to “safe and sustainable mobility”. The topics are offered with a support of Power Point presentations, released on AulaWeb and Course Teams. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course program includes presentation and discussion of the following topics: Basics and cultures of planning Urban plans and procedures Tools and indicators of sustainability Participation and citizenship Natural hazards and civil protection Climate proof design for infrastructure Urban mobility plan Best practices for sustainable mobility Transportation energy planning The SDGs covered by teaching are mainly: 9, 11, 12, 13, 15. Basically, it consists of two parts: - the first: the exposition of the topics illustrated during the lessons - the second: the presentation and subsequent discussion of the results acquired on a chosen topic, that is considered as an integral part of the oral test. There will be 3 exam sessions for the summer session (June, July and September) and the witner one (mid-January-February-March). Potential sessions will be shared during the teaching breaks. ASSESSMENT METHODS The assessment will be carried out through an oral test, in which the overall subject knowledge and the group work carried out during the course will be evaluated. The oral exam will mainly focus on the topics dealt with in the lectures and will have the purpose of evaluating not only if the student has reached an adequate level of knowledge, but if he has acquired the ability to critically analyze territorial problems.
